Yeah, the perpetual boosting of those posts (and the "you can engage in fandom without sexualising everything"/"nasties making fandom griss" posts) from my friends who weren't aware of the discourse and were isolated from the violence actually eventually got so bad that I reblogged one of my old posts that literally said "remember that liking it in a fictional context doesn't mean you need to even tolerate it" to... you know, basically disavow my own good point.
The social pressure aspect of it was the literal worst, and the fact that you might get those... frankly virtue signalling reblogs in blogs that otherwise were very topical because people didn't want to make themselves a target made fandom life more stressful than it was worth.
